} Overall Thoughts;

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: I wrote less fic than I thought I would have, but at the same time I did branch out into a few new fandoms I’d been talking about wanting to dip my quill into [Suits & Criminal Minds], so that was a pretty awesome achievement.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?: Whitechapel! I knew I’d enjoy watching the show when I finally sat down to watch it like July or something, but I never would have guessed that I’d pick it up as a fandom and fall so thoroughly in love with the characters, most especially DC Bambi, aka Kent <33

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?: I definitely have to finish my Whitechapel series [ 37 stitches ], I really have no idea where the months went, but it’s at the very top of my list for completion. Aside from Whitechapel, I have a wee bit of an inkling to try my hand at some Teen Wolf. I’ve become ridiculously invested in this tv series and would quite like to get more involved in the fandom side of it, but we’ll see how that goes.

My best story of this year: :S I don’t know that I have a ‘best’ story. Already I’m looking back over stories I wrote this year and nitpicking them, wishing I’d written certain scenes differently and whatnot. But I guess if I had to pick my favourite story (or stories!) they’d have to be:
the saints, are coming ([archiveofourown.org profile] ) [ Spencer Reid/Julio Ruiz | R/18-Rated | 4223words ] because it was my first Criminal Minds fic <33
&
37 stitches [Whitechapel Verse | Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | Multirated ] because I adore the verse I’m writing for Kent and Chandler, and can’t wait to get the last part out for everyone.

My most popular story of this year:
our fears do make us traitors ([archiveofourown.org profile] ) [ Harvey Specter/Mike Ross | PG-13 | 5887words ]
I was so surprised by the reception this story received. And so very grateful for it due to the fact that it was my first foray into the Suits fandom. I picked it up as a pinch-hit for the suits_exchange and really enjoyed the prompt I ended up picking. If not for this challenge, I may never have gotten around to writing for this fandom at all! :O

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
the saints, are coming ([archiveofourown.org profile] ) [ Spencer Reid/Julio Ruiz | R/18-Rated | 4223words ]
This definitely isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and the pairing is erring on the rarest of rarepairs, but I really enjoyed writing this story and I wish more people had given it a shot (or at least let me know if they had and whether or not they felt it worked).

Most fun story to write:
people should smile more ([archiveofourown.org profile] ) [ Spencer Reid/Sean Hotchner | U-Rated | 1415words ]
Just because these boys were so adorable to write together and I can’t believe no one else has tried exploring the possibility of Reid/Sean Hotchner! I added another story to this ‘verse’ but I wish I’d gotten around to adding more, especially more that focus on the relationship I want them to have together. Who knows, maybe this year!

Story with the single sexiest moment
(letting you see) a different side of me ([archiveofourown.org profile] [ Arthur/Eames | U-Rated | 14,000words approx. | artwork by pere_chan ]
haha, it’s a sad day when the sexiest thing I’ve written this entire year involves a kiss. Like seriously, it’s just a kiss. But seeing as none of my other stories had any, it’s really the only thing I can lay claim to. And besides, it was totally bookmarked by someone as having an awesome kiss so I’m taking it! XD

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
the saints, are coming ([archiveofourown.org profile] ) [ Spencer Reid/Julio Ruiz | R/18-Rated | 4223words ]
It’s not so much a ‘holy crap’ sort of wrong, but even though it’s not explicit, the implications of what was happening could be taken the wrong way. The story focuses on Reid’s headaches and how he goes back to Julio to help rid himself of them. He consents to what happens, but he doesn’t entirely understand what he’s consenting to, nor does he remember what happens either. It’s not meant to be non-con in anyway, but I know it could be taken the wrong way. That said I loved writing every second of it. It was another experimental style too, which I think worked really well.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
(letting you see) a different side of me ([archiveofourown.org profile] [ Arthur/Eames | U-Rated | 14,000words approx. | artwork by pere_chan ]
I originally picked up this story as a pinch-hit for a piece of artwork by the talented pere_chan, but with no actual story idea in mind. I managed to come up with a scene I wanted to see based on pere’s artwork and started writing myself around that scene. I didn’t focus too much on the ‘case’ Arthur and Eames were working, but instead paid more attention to their interactions with each other. And though ‘nothing happens’, I really enjoyed exploring the mundanely human side of these boys when they’re not being BAMF’s!

Hardest story to write:
the spaces grown between us ([archiveofourown.org profile] [Harvey Specter/Mike Ross | U-Rated | 3735words ]
Not going to lie, I kind of wanted to cry myself after writing this story! And I almost (almost!!) wrote a fix-it-fic to make up for what is admittedly a pretty open-ended ending. I’m not gonna lie, it’s a bit of an angst fest and I felt so bad for these boys <33

Biggest Surprise
37 stitches [Whitechapel Verse | Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | Multirated ]
That I started writing a ‘verse’ of stories based on a wee coda I wrote for Whitechapel! I never thought my love of Kent could inspire four fics with a fifth and final to follow, but I’ve really enjoyed exploring Kent’s character and how I imagine a relationship (or sorts) with Chandler would develop.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Amanzimtoti [WIP | 27,000words]
Is not one I’ve shared with you all yet. But this year I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo and my story for that, though not biographical by any means, draws heavily on the prejudices I was lead to believe in as a child regarding religion and sexuality. I didn’t realise at the time I was writing it just how much of my younger self my lead character was channelling until I read over what I’d managed to achieve. I guess that explains why at times I found it so hard to write. Maybe one day I’ll even complete it and be able to share it with you all.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend to
} to take the pain away [ 37 stitches ]; Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | Set post S2: Chandler sets out to prove to Kent that his scars aren't as ugly as he thinks they are, in a way that's surprising to them both.

In conclusion
I wrote 12 fandom fics totalling around 38,000words, and 1 original fic totalling around 27,000words, for an overall total word count this year of approximately 65,000words!!!

That, so much more than I’ve ever achieved, which is all the more surprising for the fact that I feel like I’ve been less prolific with my writing than in previous years. Doing NaNo definitely helped and was an amazingly stressful experience that I’d love to repeat again.
